Gling, Inc. ("Gling", "we", "us") makes Gling, a video editor for creators, available at gling.ai, app.gling.ai and as a desktop app for macOS and Windows (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Questions: info@gling.ai.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your email address and name, and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account's basic profile (name, email address, profile picture).
Your content. The video and audio files you add to a project, their transcripts, your edits and project settings, and files Gling creates for you (for example captions, enhanced audio and exports). Desktop projects are stored on your computer; projects on the web and projects you sync are stored on our servers.
Usage and device information. Which features you use, errors, the type of browser, operating system and device, approximate location derived from your IP address, the page you came from, and cookies or similar identifiers we use to keep you signed in, remember preferences and measure marketing.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your plan, payment status and the last digits and type of your card, never the full card number.
Google and YouTube data. Only if you choose to connect a YouTube channel; see section 4.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: process and transcribe your media, apply the edits and enhancements you choose, sync your projects and export or publish the results.
- To run your account and subscription, provide support and send service messages.
- To improve and secure the Service, diagnose errors and prevent abuse.
- To send product news and offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in each email; we may still send administrative messages.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that operate parts of the Service for us, under contract and only for that purpose:
- Hosting, storage and databases: Google Cloud and Firebase, Supabase.
- Media processing: transcription, audio enhancement and AI providers that process your media or text to produce the results you request (for example captions, enhanced audio, titles and generated visuals).
- Payments: Stripe. Referral program: Rewardful.
- Email and customer messaging: ActiveCampaign and our email delivery provider.
- Product analytics and error reporting: Amplitude, Google Analytics and Sentry.
- Advertising measurement: Google Ads and Meta, which receive event data (for example that a purchase happened) when you visit our website or sign up.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our terms, to protect users and the public, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
4. Google and YouTube data
You can sign in to Gling with Google and, if you choose, connect a YouTube channel. Gling uses YouTube API Services. By connecting a YouTube channel you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's use of your information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
What we access. With your permission we access your Google account's name, email address and profile picture (for sign-in), and the YouTube channels on that account: the channel ID, title, handle, thumbnail and subscriber count, and the details of your own videos that the features you use need. If you choose to publish to YouTube from Gling, we also ask for permission to upload videos to your channel.
How we use it. Only to provide the features you request: showing which channel you are connected to, suggesting titles in the style of your recent videos, checking videos you submit to our creator program, and uploading a video you have chosen to publish, with the title, description, tags, visibility and other settings you entered. Gling never uploads, edits or deletes anything on YouTube without your action and cannot change videos it did not upload.
What we store and for how long. We store an authorization token so Gling can act for you when you ask, your channel ID, the IDs of videos you submit to our creator program, and, for each video you publish, the settings you entered and the resulting YouTube video ID and link. To publish, we keep a temporary copy of the rendered video on Google Cloud Storage. We remove the live copy after publishing completes or is cancelled. Failed uploads may keep the copy for up to 48 hours for retry; abandoned uploads expire after 6 hours. An additional storage rule removes live publishing copies after 3 days. Deleted recovery copies may remain in Google Cloud Storage for up to 7 more days before expiring. We retain publishing settings and the resulting video ID and link until your account is deleted. Other channel information is read from YouTube when you use a feature and cached for at most 24 hours.
Sharing. We do not sell Google or YouTube data, use it for advertising, or share it with analytics or marketing tools. It is processed only by the hosting providers that run Gling. When you ask for title ideas, the titles of your most recent videos are sent to our AI provider (Google Vertex AI) to generate suggestions; this processing is governed by Google Cloud’s restriction on training or fine-tuning models without our permission or instruction.
Limited Use. Gling's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access and deletion. You can disconnect YouTube in Gling at any time (User menu, Disconnect YouTube channel). You can also revoke Gling's access in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. When you successfully disconnect in Gling, we remove the stored authorization and channel data for that connection. If the disconnect cannot be completed, you must retry; an unsuccessful attempt does not mean access has been removed. When you revoke access in Google's settings, we delete them when we next detect the revocation, and in any case within 30 days.
5. How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is active. We keep your projects and media until you delete them or your account, except temporary files (such as publishing copies), which are deleted automatically. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your information, except where we must keep it for legal, tax or security reasons. Deleted cloud files can remain recoverable for up to 7 more days before they are permanently removed.
6. Security
We use encryption in transit between your device and the Service, encryption at rest provided by our hosting providers, access controls and monitoring to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or delete your information, or request a copy, by emailing info@gling.ai. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California) you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict processing; we will respond within the time the law requires.
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in each message.
- Control cookies through your browser settings.
- Disconnect Google or YouTube access as described in section 4.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact info@gling.ai and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. For significant changes we will also notify you by email or in the Service.
