Use Gling on the web to work in your browser, or download the desktop app for macOS or Windows. Choose the desktop app when you need an external-editor timeline export.
Choose your version
- Import, review cuts, add captions and export a finished video: Web or desktop, subject to your media and plan
- Export a timeline to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve: Desktop app and an eligible plan
- Work with projects on another device: Use the same account and check that the project has synced
The web app needs a browser that supports the media and file-access features used by your workflow. If your browser cannot open or save a file, try the current Chrome desktop browser or the desktop app. Mobile browser behavior can differ from a computer.
Install the desktop app
- Open the official Gling download page.
- Choose the download for macOS or Windows.
- On macOS, open the downloaded disk image and install Gling in Applications. On Windows, open the downloaded installer and follow its prompts.
- Open Gling. Sign in with the same email and sign-in method you use for your existing projects or subscription.
The download page provides macOS and Windows installers. If an installer reports an unsupported operating system or cannot open, send support the exact message, your operating-system version and computer type. Keep the original installer warning visible rather than bypassing it.

Open the desktop download menu screenshot at full size.
Check your desktop version and updates
- Open the desktop app's Help menu.
- Read the Version entry.
- Choose Check for updates.
- If an update downloads, follow the installation prompt. Finish your current work before allowing Gling to quit and install.
If Gling will not open far enough to reach Help, download the current installer from the official page. Keep your existing projects and application data while investigating. An update check can fail because of a connection or download problem, so record the full message if it does.
Before switching devices
A subscription and a project are separate things. Signing into the same paid account restores its account access, but a project also needs an available synced copy. Follow Save, find and sync your projects before leaving the original device.
When an old tutorial shows different controls
Regular and experimental beta builds can offer different tools. Check supported workflows and limits before installing an older beta. A missing control is not a reason to delete local project data.
